Find Your Personality Type Fast With This Chart

Wanna know how to determine your personality type faster than taking a test?

Typing can be confusing because there is a lot more to a personality than just a description of the most common behaviors.

It takes time to go deep and get really familiar with each type. And not everyone wants to do that to confirm their own or someone else’s.

During my research, I’ve uncovered a cool trick to help narrow someone’s type down that’s fast and doesn’t require a 100 question test.

If you have tested as an MBTI type and it doesn’t suit you or you are debating between two types, see if this chart helps.

How To Use The Chart

The MBTI types can be broken down into categories of similar tendencies. Going horizontal there are 4 distinct Temperaments and in the vertical there are 4 distinct Interaction Styles.

David Keirsey is most known for the Temperaments, but the concept goes way back in history as he explains in his book. Linda Berens created the Interaction Styles based on a similar concept.

Figure out which Interaction Style is your dominant tendency and likewise for Temperament. Where the two intersect, that’s your type. It’s that simple.

Keep in mind accurate typing is based on innate preferences. It can get tricky the older you are because your experiences and environment influence you which can muddy the water.

This is actually a good thing with regards to development, but can make it harder to type.

Try asking people who know you for their input. I didn’t realize that others saw my dominant it looked like I live in the moment from an outsider’s perspective. This helped me confirm a painful indecision between ISTP and INTP.

Yet another aspect of this personality system is the 4 sides of the mind and how we cognitively transition. You should understand cognitive functions before exploring that area.
